A new update for Sail Simulator 5 is expected to be released at the end of this week. One of the major changes will be a ranking system. Sailors will get points for sailing races and the higher place you finish, the more points you get. There are also several factors in use to make it more fair for low-point sailors racing against experienced high-point sailors. Further we also take in account the length of the race and how many boats you're competing with. The complete formula and explanation will be posted online when the update is released.
The Stentec Software 3D Art development team has begun working on new boat types for Sail Simulator 5. We can't say much about the exact plans, but here is a first impression of what to expect.
